No Limitations

Early in my Christian walk I noticed that God would use the things of the natural to teach me about His Kingdom and His desires. As I began to become more sensitive to the ways He spoke to me, I could recognize Him moving, leading, and guiding in my everyday life. It could be a word from a friend or coworkers, a call or text from a family member, words spoken by a TV entertainer, lyrics from a song, an article on the internet, and many other ways God would get my attention. I could not limit the ways God was communicating to me. Recently, I asked God a question and was waiting for His answer. I did not know when or how He would answer. Nonetheless, I was trusting and expecting Him to respond. I like to watch comedy shows. In fact, there was an article mentioning that a doctor prescribed watching comedy to a woman. His diagnosis was she needed to laugh more. Anyway, I was watching this comedy program and was surprised when one of the actors asked the same question, I was asking God. More surprising, it was the exact words to my question. When the other actor gave his response, I honestly believe God was giving me my answer. God is so amazing!

“Horton Hears a Who!”

As I developed my relationship with the Lord, He continued to bring to my remembrance or vision movies, stories, films, songs, etc. to teach me valuable lessons. As mentioned, at first, I did not understand, but as I matured in Christ, I began to see the connections. I am astonished how God was making Himself real to me. During one of my prayer times, the children’s book, “Horton Hears a Who!” by Dr. Seuss, came to mind. At first, I thought it odd, but the training in the beginning made me realize not to dismiss or determine how God wanted to reveal Himself or share information.

For those who are not familiar with the story, Horton is an elephant, and he hears talking from a speck of dust. The speck of dust is the home of “Whos” who live in “Whoville”. To protect the “Whos”, Horton carries the dust to keep it safe from harm. No one in Horton’s community believes there are beings living on the tiny speck of dust and Horton is ridiculed. However, Horton tells the mayor of “Whoville” if they, the “Whos”, make enough noise, they would be heard because if they did not, they would be burned alive.

Therefore, the mayor frantically goes through “Whoville” asking every “Who” to make noise to be heard. Still, no one hears the “Whos” except Horton. Then the mayor concludes that everyone is not doing his or her part. He searches and finds one of the “Whos”, JoJo, playing with a yoyo and not making noise. The mayor carries JoJo to the Elffelberg Tower in this story, so JoJo could make noise. JoJo’s noise broke the barrier and all the other “Whos” voices could be heard by the disbelievers.

There are a few revelations that could come from this story; however, I believe God wanted me to share these revelations.

Helping Others to get their Breakthrough

When God gave me the revelation from “Horton Hears a Who”, I was amazed how He basically downloaded the information into my spirit. He revealed the issues and the name of the person who should pray. This was over twenty years ago and as mentioned, it was the beginning of my personal development and personal relationship with the Lord. As I wrote down the issues and listed the names as God had given them to me, I knew that these individuals must have prayed about a specific situation and had the victory through Christ. Now, I wondered if they knew they were overcomers and if they knew the strategy or how to pray for that issue. In general, I believe God has given individuals a special anointing in a particular area which gave them victory over a struggle. Like the story, there was that one voice needed for a breakthrough. If God has made you an overcomer in a specific area, your voice or prayers could break through the barrier for others.

There are areas in our lives where God has made us overcomers. This gives us the ability to help others until they can help themselves or believe. You may have overcame a situation or circumstance and God has given you the tools to win. This is your testimony, and it will help others. Revelations 12:11 states, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony…” The blood of Jesus and your testimony matters. This is an opportunity for you to help someone so they can get a breakthrough.

Creating an Atmosphere for a Breakthrough

We need to create an atmosphere for a breakthrough. An atmosphere of praise and worship can create breakthroughs. They are our weapons. 2 Corinthians 10:4 “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds…” God hears our prayers, but there are those times when we need to stop and begin to spiritually go to war. Christians go to war differently than the typical soldier. We put on the whole armor of God as stated in Ephesian 6, but we do not pick-up guns or knives, or any other weapons. We use spiritual weapons with a strategy. Worshipping and singing praises to the Lord are strategies. Every battle is not a like; however, God has given us the strategies for combat.

During the last few weeks, words related to worship were coming up. I honestly believe that God wants His people to begin worshipping and praising Him during this season. We are to keep our focus on Him. To get a breakthrough in your circumstance or situation start worshipping Almighty God. There is a story in the Bible (Old Testament) where we hear the people made a noise or shout and won the battle. If you recall the Battle of Jericho, Israel did not fight with any natural weapons. In Joshua 6, it reads, “Now Jericho was securely shut up because of the children of Israel; none went out, and none came In.” I would like to emphasis “shut up” because there might be a situation where you feel is locked up. You might not know how to get through to a rebellious child. You might find your finances are shut up or you might have lost a job. Whatever situation you are in that is shut up, begin to worship and praise God for His goodness.

In verse 10 of Joshua 6, it states, “Now Joshua had commanded the people, saying, “You shall not shout or make any noise with your voice, nor shall a word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I say to you, ‘Shout!” Moving to verse 20, “So the people shouted when the priests blew the trumpets… the wall fell down flat.” When you lift your voice, worship, and praise the Lord, He will fight your battle. He will give you a breakthrough and you will be able to get through the obstacle, circumstance, or situation.

Also, in 2 Chronicles 20, King Jehoshaphat led his people into battle with singing. In verse 22, “Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated.” Glory to God when you worship and praise the Lord you create an atmosphere for breakthroughs. Again, you are inviting God to step in and fight your battles.

In the New Testament we see how God makes a way for Paul and Silas. They were in prison. They were locked up and suddenly a miracle happened. According to Acts 16:25, “… at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God… 26 Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s chains were loosed.” They were no longer locked up or shut up. They had a breakthrough. If you notice Paul and Silas were praying and singing, they created an atmosphere for God to come and help to fight the battle.

We need to get into the right mindset and know the strategy for the battle. When we worship and praise Him, we are inviting God into the situation to help.

Your Breakthrough

All breakthroughs come from God, but the strategy may be different. There is a posture or position to take and it starts with seeking God. We read a cry for help and a breakthrough in Psalm 31:2 (TPT) “Rescue me quickly when I cry out to you. At the sound of my prayer may your ear be turned to me. Be my strong shelter and hiding place on high. Pull me into victory and breakthrough”. Also, in Psalm 32:7, the Psalmist says, “Lord, you are my secret hiding place, protecting me from these troubles, surrounding me with songs of gladness! Your joyous shouts of rescue release my breakthrough”. (TPT). As I see the chaos and confusion today, I can pray these Psalms. I would also add to the list Psalm 118:25, “O God, please come and save us again; bring us your breakthrough-victory!” (TPT) God hears the cries of His people. He wants us to believe in Him and have faith.

In the story of “Horton Hears a Who”, there was a voice that was needed to create a breakthrough. I believe God is saying every prayer and praise matters, from the youngest to the oldest. You might be the “JoJo” in the world, your state, community, family, etc. whose prayers are needed for a breakthrough. Do not think your prayers are not as eloquent or charismatic as others. That does not matter because it does not matter to God. He loves to hear us praise Him. In Psalm 150:6 it states, “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!”

Make 2021 and beyond a year of breakthroughs by worshipping and praising God!
